History

1970 The foundations of Jardine Insurance Brokers (JIB) were laid in the early 1970s and the business grew rapidly as a result of acquisitions and organic growth, covering wholesale, retail and reinsurance broking.

1981 Lloyd Thompson was founded in 1981 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in October 1987. Originally specialising in marine hull and energy broking, Lloyd Thompson grew rapidly into all classes of wholesale and reinsurance business, developing a strong London market presence.

1984 Jardine Australian Insurance Brokers was formed following the merger of three entities; Jardine Australian Insurance Brokers, Australian Insurance Brokers and Jardine Wesfarmers Perth. This merger established a broker of significant size in Australia at the time, with revenues of over AUD 10 million. The newly formed business adopted a focus on the corporate insurance market and provided the basis for the business that we are today.

1991 JIB was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1991. We maintained a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region and had begun to acquire representation in Continental Europe and the Americas.

From this point our Group has continued to develop by strong organic growth and carefully considered acquisitions.
